Call for Papers
The organizing committee invites practitioners, researchers, and industry innovators to submit abstracts for peer review. We welcome technical papers, regulatory framework analyses, and real-world case studies aligned with our four core thematic sessions:
Session 1: The Decision-Making & Circular Economy Process
- Evaluating life-cycle carbon accounting (CO₂ footprint metrics).
- Risk allocation, insurance coverage, and contractual frameworks for reused assets.
- Policy drivers and city-planning mandates pushing for subsoil resource preservation.
Session 2: Advanced Inspection, Testing, and Suitability Assessment
- Non-destructive testing (NDT) methodologies for existing timber, concrete, and steel foundations.
- Determining residual service life and load-bearing capacities of existing foundations.
- Geotechnical soil-structure interaction data and historical archive evaluation.
Session 3: Sustainable Design & Optimization Methodologies
- Performance-based design when incorporating existing substructures into new superstructures.
- Innovative design approaches to minimize excavation volumes and ground disturbance.
Session 4: Construction Phase, Execution, and Monitoring
- On-site engineering challenges when retrofitting, extracting, or driving adjacent piles.
- Real-time monitoring technologies (fiber optics, sensors) during foundation loading.
- Low-carbon material optimization (alternative cements, recycled aggregates, green steel).
- Contractor perspectives on safety, machinery modifications, and execution risk mitigation.
Submission Guidelines
- Format: Abstracts must be submitted in English, max 300 words.
- Requirements: At least one author must register and present the paper at the open access event in Hamburg.
